Hi there,

The route would be: Tokyo - Shin-Osaka - Hakata - Oita.

For travel times, I recommend learning to plan with Hyperdia this way you can find any route/timetable and more. It's a great tool for planning with the JR Pass. We also have a useful interactive map with all JR lines included.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Hi Daniel-san, I thought the route was the following:

Shin-Osaka >> Kokura (using the Hikari/Kodama or Sakura trains on the Tokaido/Sanyo Shinsanken) >> Oita (using the Sonic Express through the JR Nippo line)?

Apologies, I had my own last trip in mind.

It is actually Kokura that usually is the better station to transfer. The Sonic starts service in Fukuoka and sometimes you have less downtime going via Hakata but the train does stop at Kokura in any case.

For the rest, all is good :)
