I am traveling to Japan at the end of April and have read how busy the trains can get durning Golden Week. If I order my rail pass today, is there any way to use the voucher or receive the pass sooner to book trains in advance of arriving in Japan?

Hi Dylan,
Most trains an only be booked once you are in Japan and have activated your JR Pass. Some of the JR East trains can be booked on their website.
For the rest, try to reserve your seats 2-4 days in advance when you are in Japan and travel during Golden Week and you won't have a problem getting secured seats.
