Optimizing day of 1 week pass activation

Hi, I have bought the 1 week rail pass.
I will be in Japan 2 weeks so I am trying to optimize the day when I activate it.
My plan is to go from Tokyo to lake Kawagyuchio (without using the rail pass), then staying there until the 26, when I will go to Kyoto in the afternoon. My plan is then to do day trips fromKyoto, and use the rail pass for the rest of the vacation.
My questions:
• If I activate it on Nov 26th (morning) will it cover up to Dec 2nd (can I travelk the whole day of the 2nd?) • Is there a JR office in Kawagyuchio where I can activate the JR pass, or should I already activate it when I am in Tokyo? • Should I book trains in advance duyring this seasons? (Travelling alone)

Many thanks!

Hi there,

Each day is counted as a full day, so activating it on the 26th means that you can use the pass until the 2nd, and it will then expire at midnight.

There is no JR office at Kawaguchiko, so please activate your pass at one of the exchange stations. I do recommend getting seating ahead of time, but this can be done on the day of travel.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Thanks Daniel, just to be sure, you mean that the 2nd I can still use the rail pass for the whole day unitl midnight, right?
