Hi there, I just want to make sure if I gather information right. If we get JR pass, we can go from tokyo to Hokkaido? And also with JR pass, a train that can travel around tokyo and Hokkaido in any station? Am I right?
Just to let you know we're (family of 4) planning to go to Hokkaido and will check in on a hotel for 2 days. By any chance do you guys recommend any cheap and nice hotels?

Japan has many budget hotel chains, you can look at use APA hotel, Smile Hotel, Super hotel, Sunroute Inn, there are more.
My advice for hotels is to use general booking websites where you can read reviews from other travellers and search for a hotel that matches your own budget.
