I am arriving in Tokyo(Narita) on 08 April and want to go straight to Kyoto.
Want to know if i can take the bullet train to Kyoto on the same day as i activate my JR pass. I read somewhere that i need to reserve seats for the bullet train to Kyoto. Want to check if i will be able to o the same at the time i activate my JR pass?
My plan is to take the Narita express from Narita to Tokyo and then the Bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto.
Let me know if this is the best option?

Yes, you can travel on right away if you want. Going via Tokyo is indeed the best option.
