We are a group of 4 travelling on the JR Rail Pass from Kanazawa to Naganoharakusatsuguchi and then looking to travel from Naganoharakusatsuguchi to Kusatsu Onsen on the JR Kanto Bus. How do I reserve four seats on the bus for a two way trip between Naganoharakusatsuguchi and Kusatsu Onsen using the JR Rail Pass? I also read on the website that each passenger can only carry a luggage weighing no more than10kg on the bus. As we are travelling all around Japan with our luggage, we will each be carrying a medium sized luggage weighing around 20kg. Is it possible to pay a surcharge for more luggage capacity for all 4 of us for the two trips to and from Kusatsu Onsen? We will be travelling from Naganoharakusatsuguchi to Tokyo after a one night stay at Kusatsu Onsen.

Thank you for your help.

Hi there,

Bus fares can be purchased onboard of the bus, as far as I'm aware, no advance purchase is possible online.

The luggage limitation is an indication but not actively enforced. I.e. you can take your luggage of 20kg onboard but please make sure it does not inconvenience other passengers. The call to bring something on the bus is up to the driver, but as mentioned, it won't be a problem, unless it is a hazard on inconvenience to other visitors.

The journey is covered by the JR Pass, just show your pass to the driver when entering/exiting the bus.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
