I will be flying into Tokyo in August and spending 4 days there before heading to Kyoto and spending another 4 days exploring the City, After this I will be travelling back to Tokyo and flying home. I will be in Japan for 9 days.

Is the JR Pass the best pass for me and will it allow me to travel to most areas in most of the cities and take the bullet trains too and from Tokyo and Kyoto and too and from the airport.

If this is the best option how do I buy the JR ticket.

Thank you

Hi Louise,

I think the 7-day JR Pass is the best option to consider here. The cost of the pass is about the same as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto. From there, any additional travel is where savings can be made. Think of travel from the airport, local JR lines in Tokyo and Kyoto and perhaps even a day trip.

Hope this helps,
