Hi there,
We are a family of three (son 12) and arrive at Kansai International Airport at the 19th of april. After arrival we'll immediately leave to go to Kyoto. We'll stay at Kyoto until the 24th of april and heading for Tokyo. On the 30th op april we'll go back to Kansai Airport for our flight home.
What is your advise for the JR pass? Is it a good option to buy a seven days pass, and use it from the 24th?

Hi Pascale,
My advise would be to use a 7-day JR Pass for the return to Tokyo. Any extra travel you would add just ads to your savings :)
You could look at adding a day trip for even better value.

Just to make sure, what kind of tickets do you recommend to buy for our family for this trip? In Kyoto we'll only intent to visit (except from the city) the Golden Temple and the bamboo forrest area.

Hi Pascale,
In Kyoto you can buy a day ticket for the bus ticket from the driver, this is only 500yen (half price for children) and allows for unlimited rides on that day.
The JR Pass will get you to most places in Tokyo, so generally additional tickets are not needed.
