Kansai-Hiroshima Area Pass

I am looking at getting the Kansai-Hiroshima Area Pass for part of our trip to Japan in May.
The pass only includes Non reserved seats. Will this be an issue for travel from Kyoto to Hiroshima and other train travel in the area? Will we get a seat together - there are 2 of us?

Can we purchase reserved seats and how do we work out the cost of this for a train journey?
We will be using this pass to go to places such as Hiroshima, Miyajima, Nara , Arashiyama, Osaka and Kansai Airport.

Hi there,

It could be, especially during the weekend is it that Shinkansen are busy and you may not be able to take a non-reserved seat. In that case you'd have to stand. This does not happen with every train but the possibility is there.

I'm not sure if you can reserve seats with this pass but in that case you'd have to pay the seat reservation fee. Which is 300-1000yen per seat depending on the train.
