Kansai Airport to Kōyasan.

Hi

I want to collect a Japan Rail Pass when I first arrive in Japan at Kansai Airport. I then want to travel immediately to Kōyasan. I understand that Kōyasan is not on the JR network and the nearest JR station is Hashimoto. When I use Hyperdia to plan a route from Kansai Airport to Hashimoto and I switch off “private railway” the route generated comes with this warning, “The search results below may contain some routes not suitable for Japan Rail Pass. Please make inquiries to railroad companies or travel agencies regarding actual fares, actual seat-fees and whether you are able to use Japan Rail Pass or not.” Is it possible to get from Kansai Airport to Hashimoto with the JR Pass? This page on your website ( https://m.jrpass.com/map ) says it is but Hyperdia says that it is not.

Hi there,

The message: “The search results below may contain some routes not suitable for Japan Rail Pass. Please make inquiries to railroad companies or travel agencies regarding actual fares, actual seat-fees and whether you are able to use Japan Rail Pass or not.” in Hyperdia is only a general disclaimer and should be considered as such.

You can indeed use the JR Pass for this route.

I know that the following route is not the responsibility of Japan Railways but can you tell me how best to get from Hashimoto to Kōyasan in late June and how much it costs? On the internet I see references to a private railway from Hashimoto to Gokurakubashi and then a cable car to Kōyasan and I also see references to a JR bus from Hashimoto to Kōyasan. I also see references to the cable car being closed temporarily.
