Hi Sir,

Good day. I notice that every weekend and other holiday, they have a direct train available called Holiday Rapid Fujisan. I can depart from Shinjuku using this train at 08.14 then go to Otsuki and stay on the same train to continue the trip to Kawaguchiko. I would like to ask:
1) If I have JR Pass, do I need to make any reservation on the date of travel? If yes, how to do it?
2) for the whole journey, is there any extra fare?

Thank you and have a nice day.

Regards,
Yun

Hi Yun,

1.) The train has non-reserved seats and reserved seats. Making a reservations is the same as for any other train.

2.) You do need to pay for the part traveled between Otsuki and Kawaguchiko, as this is traveled on a private railway. The fee is around 1,140yen/one way.

For further details see:

Hope this helps,
Daniel
