Hi,
We go as a group of 5 adults.
May I ask for some advice as to which rail pass to use that will be of most value for our itinerary?
Our itinerary is as below :

19th April 2017 Narita Airport to Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku
20th April 2017 Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku to Hiroshima – Hotel Granvia
Hotel Granvia to tour Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Dome, Peace Memorial Park&Museum, Peace Bell, Cenotaph for A-Bomb victims , Shukkei-en Garden 21th April 2017 Hotel Granvia Hiroshima to tour Miyajima
22th April 2017 Hotel Granvia Hiroshima to Naoshima – Benesse House
23th April 2017 Naoshima to Kyoto – Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kyoto-Hachijoguchi
Daiwa Roynet Hotel tour to Fushimi Inari Shrine, then back downtown to Nishiki Market 24th April 2017 Daiwa Roynet Hotel tour to Nara, in the afternoon tour to Shimbashi area
25th April 2017 Daiwa Roynet Hotel tour to Arashiyama
Back to Daiwa Roynet Hotel and then to Kurama Onsen 26th April 2017 Kurama Onsen to Tokyo - Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku
27th April 2017 Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku to tour to Asakusa and surrounding
28th April 2017 Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku to tour to Tsukiji Market in early morning then tour to Nikko
29th April 2017 Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku to tour Shinjuku, Harajuku & Shibuya area
Back to Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku and then to Narita Airport

So i am wondering whether it is worthwhile getting the 14 days pass or would a 7 days pass be better with the above itinerary?
If possible please advice the cost on non JR pass.

Thank you,
Wi

Hi Wi,

That's a really nice trip in the planning, I've always wanted to stay at the Benesse House myself and wonder the art galleries by night.

Looking at the route that you will cover, a 7 day JR Pass would give you the best value from March 20th - 26th. At the same time, you will be covering so many miles that a 14 day JR Pass would also help you make savings.

The JR Pass will cover nearly all your travel, there may be instances where additional local travel is required. Such as the Tokyo Metro to Asakusa. This will cost around 200yen per ride. The ferry to Naoshima is 280 yen per person/ride.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
