JR Pass in unattended station

Hello,

I have a question about using the JR pass. Basically, I understand that I can’t exit the station through the automatic ticket gate. Instead, I have to go to a manned gate to show my JR pass. But what will happen if there’s no attendant present at the station? I plan to go to nagashima station from Nagoya to see nabana no sato (there’s a direct bus just a short walk away). I’ve read in wiki, there are some train station in Japan that are usually unattended, and JR nagashima station is one of them. How do I exit the station if there’s no attendant in the station?

Hi there,

Your ticket will be checked on the train in more remote area's, as such you can just enter/exit the station when no manned gates are available (there won't be any ticket gate either, or it will be open).

Kind regards,
Daniel
