Hello, i will be in Tokyo for 10 days, with 2 days in in Kyoto.
while the JR pass can take me to Kyoto via Shinkansen, will i be able to use it in Tokyo to explore via the Yamanote line, or would i need JR Pass east?

Hi Cat,
The JR Pass covers both the Shinkansen to Kyoto and the Yamanote line. In addition you can use any other JR lines around Tokyo, such as the JR Central (Chuo) line and many others.
