I will be visiting Japan for the first time in December flying to Osaka. Planning to use Osaka as a base to make day trips to Nara, Kyoto, Hiroshima, etc. we will be in Japan for 7 days. Not sure if it's worth it to purchase the JR? It's me, my husband and 2 children.

Any advice or ideas are welcome

Hi there,

The JR Pass may or may not help you make savings, I can't say for sure without knowing your full trip details.

You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.

Let me know if you need any help :)

Kind regards,
Daniel

Thank you, Daniel. I am thinking:
2 day trips to Kyoto
1 day trip to Nara
1 day trip Himeji
1 day trip to hiroshima
1 day trip to Kobe - not sure if its worth a visit.

Hi again,

A 7 day JR Pass would be helpful with the above itinerary and cover travel to each city.

Personally I think Kobe is a nice visit, not for big things but for the small things. There are many interesting shops, smaller museums, the water front is nice and going up to Mount Rokka is one of the best night views in Kansai.
