Hi,
I will travel to Japan 12 days start from Tokyo. This is the first time that I bought 7 days JR Nationwide pass and I have questions below;

  1. I've heard that I can apply JR Pass with some train, bus and boat. How could I check of which transportation that I can apply the pass for?
  2. Apart from Hyperdia, is there any application for navigator?
  3. Is there any fee to book the seat? Can I book it before get in the train or I have to book it in advance?
  4. I plan to travel to Kii-Katsuura station for Nachi Waterfall from Tokyo, which is the best route to get there and is there any additional charge if I use JR Pass?
  5. If I travel to Kyoto after Kii-Katsuura, which route is the best and also is there any additional charge if I use JR Pass?

Hello Peakie,

1.) Please see our map for all lines covered. www.jrpass.com/map

2) You can also use Navitime:
https://www.navitime.co.jp/pcstorage/html/japan_travel/english/

3.) Seat reservations are completely free.

4.) Take the Shinkansen from Tokyo station to Shin-Osaka. From there use local service to Kii-Katsura. The best route depends on what time of day you travel. Here Hyperdia comes in handy.

5.) Return to Shin-Osaka, you can get on the Shinkansen to Kyoto from there. Again, Hyperdia will tell you the best route. Depending on the time of travel.
