Is the JR pass worth it for my itinerary?

Hello! Good morning! I would like to ask if I could save money from getting a JR pass.

I will be arriving in Nagoya this March. We'll be staying in Japan for 6 days. Here's my travel itinerary :

Day 1: arrival
Day 2: travel to Universal Studios from Nagoya
Day 3: Universal to Kyoto
Day 4: Kyoto to Nagoya
Day 5: From nagoya, I'll visit Mt Fuji
Day 6: end of stay

Hello there,

I looked at your itinerary and I think the cheapest option would simply to buy normal rail tickets here. A JR Pass would have been more useful if you covered a bit more distance. An added visit to Kyoto would certainly do the trick here! Unless you have specific plans, I would recommend visiting Tokyo over Nagoya. Nagoya is much of a business city and there is not that much in terms of tourism. Tokyo offers a much broader selection.

You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you for the reply! Nagoya is my point of entry. I would like to ask another question. Can I ride bullet trains using the JR Pass? Thank you again for your reply ☺️

Hi again,

Yup! The Bullet trains are included. The only limitation is that you can't use the Nozomi/Mizuho bullet trains but you can take the Hikari/Sakura bullet train services on the same route. The only difference is the amount of stops on the route.
