Hi there,

I was reading your itinerary and found it hard to match a JR Pass to it. This is mainly because you fly a couple of times, taking much of the possible savings that the JR Pass could offer you away. What remains is mostly local travel. However, a 7 day JR Pass would still be good for the period 12/4 to 18/4.

Osaka - Hiroshima 10,640 JPY
Hiroshima - Nagasaki 12,990 JPY
Kyoto - Himeji 10,960 JPY (return)
Kyoto - Nagoya 6,000 JPY

For a total of 40,590 JPY or at least 11,480 JPY in savings, as the 7 day JR Pass is 29,110 JPY.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hey Daniel,

That is extremely helpful. Thanks for that. In terms of buying and activating is it best to use this website as there are many Aussie based companies that onsell them also. Also I am not sure if you can assist but with the local travel what is the best way to pay for it, cash, cardeftpos or is there any local card we can use? Thank you in advance for all your help.
