Hi there

I was just hoping someone might be able to advise me on rail travel and the best options for travel.
I'm visiting Japan from 2nd -17th April.
My itinerary at present is:
Toyko - 2 nights
Kyoko - 7 nights ( and day trips to Osaka etc)
Kanazawa - 2 nights
Takayama- 2 nights
Toyko - 2 nights.

I was thinking that the 14 day pass would be the best option but I'm a little confused about how I get from Kanazawa to Takayama and from Takayama to Toyko. Any advice would be fabulous!

Thanks in advance

Sam

Hi Sam,

The JR Pass does work on this route and you can visit all these cities.

For travel to Kanazawa, you can take the Thunderbird ltd. express train directly from either Kyoto or Osaka. Then on the Takayama, take the Shinkansen to Toyama, followed by the Hida Wide View Express down to Takayama.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
