Hi-

We are coming to Japan for our honeymoon! We fly into Tokyo and travel to Kyoto and then Osaka. We will be there for a total of 12 days but would only really need the pass for 10 of those days. Should we buy a 7 day pass and then buy passes as we need for the other 3 days?

Does the pass cover Tokyo to Kyoto and Kyoto to Osaka?

I looked and counted that we could use the pass for certain days and then buy tickets as needed for the first two days basically.

What do you think?

Hello there,

It would make sense to use your JR Pass to cover expensive routes such as Tokyo - Kyoto and Osaka - Tokyo, then buy local passes or tickets for the remaining days. Will you fly out of Tokyo?

The JR Pass covers the bullet train between Tokyo - Kyoto - Osaka as well as the local JR Network in each city.

Kind regards,
Daniel
