Green ticket and tariff

Hi, as we will be traveling from Narita to Kyoto, with big suitcases, we are thinking of buying the Green tickets.
I have read somewhere that when using the Green ticket, we need to pre book every leg of the journey - is that really so? That would make it harder to use then.
Also, when buying the pass from you, will we need to pay a customs tariff? We live in Sweden.

Hi Ann,

Yes, all Green Seats are reserved. This is to make sure every customer who paid for a Green Seat actually gets a Green Seat. It works out quite well.

Making reservations is actually super easy and can be done up to 5 minutes before train depature. Go to the ticket window, show your pass and the JR Staff will book your seats.

There are no fees on travel tickets, we also send your pass to you from within the EU, there are no extra charges at all for customs.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
