Green Car vs Ordinary Car

We are a family of four with 4 suitcases flying into Narita. From there we are going to Yokohama for 5 days. Then we plan to go to Kyoto for 2-3 days. From Kyoto to we’ll go to Tokushima. From Tokushima, we’ll go back to Tokyo.

I was wondering what class of ticket would make the most sense. I was going to buy the 14 day pass, but should it be ordinary class or green class? We’re going from the end of July to the first week of August.

Thanks,
Rachel

Hi Rachel,

You will be more than find in ordinary class, especially on the Shinkansen. Ordinary class in Japan is already better than 1st class in many countries. That said, Green Class is certainly a nice upgrade. Trains usually operate a 2x2 seating in Green Class instead of 2x3 in Ordinary. Making it easy to sit together with your family. It is also a lot quieter in Green class in General.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
