I plan to visit this two places on my arrival day1 and day 2. i will be arriving Nairta airport in the morning on day 1.

after checking i am a little confused. I try to go to Fukuroda fall from Narita airport. it show me to go Tokyo first.

  1. will it be more convenient for me to stay near Narita station, then visit the above? If so, how do I travel without going to Tokyo?

  2. is it better to travel from Tokyo?

  3. OR is there a better option.? I would love to have day 1 to check in and, rest n explore the nearby. then start the activities on day 2.

I am getting a 14 days pass.

Thank you.

Hi there,

There are not many connections from Narita Airport, basically, you go to Tokyo first and then to any other place if you travel by train. This applies for travel to Kukuroda falls and Hitachi Flower Park.

Although you may be able to do in 1 day, there is significant travel between them. In such an event, you would have to leave early and finish late.

The JR Pass will cover nearly all travel to both.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hello,
You could do both in a day, although storming the country right after landing from a long international flight would be grueling. The real issue is not going from one place to the other. With a good connection, you can get from Katsuta to Fukuroda in about 85 minutes via Mito. But in total it will be about 7-8 hours sitting on trains in one day.
Getting to either means going through Mito, which is nice since you could also visit the Kairakuen Garden there which is one of the nation's traditional Top 3 gardens. To get to the Hitachi Flower Park you take the train to Katsuta Stn, and then the easier connection is a 25 minute bus ride (not covered by the pass). Alternatively you can take a private rail line to Ajigaura Stn and walk 30 minutes to the park entrance.

If you have the time, you might consider going to each on different days. There are many other good sights you could then add in, like the Ushiku Great Buddha, or Oarai Isosaki Jinja.

Good luck.
