Hello,

I am planning a trip for March and need some advice on the best way to get from Fujikawaguchiko to Kyoto. I noticed that I would need to take the JR Limited Express 110 from Otsuki station (not sure if the JR Pass covers this) and then the NOZOMI line however this isn't covered by the JR Pass so I'd like to avoid that route--especially since this is one of my main reasons for looking into purchasing the JR Pass. Are there any buses or rail lines that I could take to another city and then use lines that are included in the JR Pass? I'm at a loss right now so any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks :)

Hi there,

The best route using the JR Pass is first to travel from Kawaguchiko by Fujikyu rail to Otsuki, this part is not covered by the JR Pass and costs 1,140yen. From Otsuki you can use local JR lines as well as ltd. express services like the Kaji train to Tokyo station. From there, use a Hikari Shinkansen to Kyoto.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
