Hello:

I will be arriving to Narita airport early in the morning on july 16th and need to travel to Kyoto that same day. I would like to take the Shinkansen. Two questions:
1.- I suppose I have to go from Narita to a Train Sation in Tokyo and then take a Shinkansen to Kyoto. Can you confirm which station I have to go in Tokyo so that I can take the Shinkansen to Kyoto?
2.- After a few days I will have to get back to Tokyo. That is the only trains I will be takimg. Is it worth to buy the JR pass or should I buy a round ticket Tokyo-Kyoto.? We are six adults.

Thank you very much.

Hi there,

1.) You can take the Shinkansen from their Tokyo or Shinagawa stations (in Tokyo) to Kyoto.

2.) The cost of a 7 day JR Pass is about the same as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto using the Shinkansen. A JR Pass would already be useful if you could use it to travel to/from the airport as well.

Enjoy Japan!
Daniel
