Doubt regarding the duration of the Japan Rail Pass

Hello Explore Japan,´

I have the following question about using the Japan Rail Pass. Maybe it has been already posted but I could not find any similar topic. Does the 7, 14 or 21 days of the duration of the pass start counting on the day that one receives the pass or do the days start counting after using the pass for the 1st time? These says are counted consequential or just the days where the pass is used are counted as duration days?

Thank you,

Hi Ana,

You can select your own starting date once you validate the JR Pass in Japan. This can be at any date within 30 days from the day that you do so. In other words, you can select your own starting date and do not have to start using the pass right away.

Each JR Pass is counted in convective days.

Kind regards,
