Hello, w are a family of 3 traveling to Japan in 3rd week of May. We land at Narita airport and plan to go to Kyoto directly. We plan to visit Kyoto - 5 days, Kusatsu - 2 days, Tokyo - 4 days. From Kyoto we plan to do day trips to Arashiyama, Nara and Osaka. Which pass do you recommend we take? Is their an option for flexible day use of JR 7 day pass?

Hi there,

The JR Pass is counted in consecutive days but you could still make great using of it using it to travel to Kyoto, Kusatsu and do your day trip around Kyoto. Then buy single tickets/day passes for the remaining days in Tokyo.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
