I understand child under 6 does not need JR pass. However, do we need to show the passport when we are travelling or when we activate the adult JR pass.

Thanks

Hi there,

Yes, you may be asked to show your passport to show the age of your child but also to confirm that you are eligible for the JR Pass.

Japanese law states that all foreign visitors have to carry their passport with them at any time in any case.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
