My son's date of birth is 24/04/2005. We are planning to buy the JR pass ticket on April 18th in India. Our date of travel in Japan is from April 30th - May 14. Do we need to buy a child pass for him or an adult pass. We will start using the JR pass on April 30th by which time he will be 12 years old

Hi there,
The date of purchase/issue is what's leading for child passes. Your son can use a child pass if purchased before his birthday.

Hope this helps,
