Can I use JR-pass on Kii-peninsula?

Hello,
Please advise about purchasing a JR-pass yes or no. This is our itinerary:
18 July Kyoto to Koyasan
19 July Koyasan to Shirahama
20 July Shirahama - Nachi - Shirahama
21 July stay in Shirahama
22 July Shirahama - Tokyo
23 July Tokyo
24 July Tokyo - Nikko - Tokyo
Will the JR-pass be of value in this itinerary?

And for travelling in the cities of Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo, should I buy a Suica or Pasmo card? We start our trip in Osaka and end in Tokyo.
