Hello!

we will be traveling in Japan in November, for a 14 days. We are wondering if JR pass would be good for this trip ?

Our initerary is:

Fly in Tokyo Narita; From Narita to Kyoto by train
6 days in Kyoto with side trips to Yamazaki Distillery and Nara
Travel from Kyoto to Koyasan
Next day travel from Koyasan to Arima Onsen/Kobe
Next day travel from Arima Onsen/Kobe to Tokyo
5 days in Tokyo, then fly out from Narita

With this itinerary, what pass would you recommend we get?

Thank you!

Hi,

If you are going to be in the Kansai area for more than 7 days, you'd need a 14 day pass - but you simply are not traveling enough to justify its cost. So regular fare tickets would be the way to go here, unless you significantly increase your travels, like take a day trip to Hiroshima and Miyajima from Kansai, or from Tokyo to somewhere like Sendai or Kanazawa, or a couple shorter places like Karuizawa, Izu, Kusatsu, etc.

Best of luck.
