Hi there!
I am at the moment planning my next trip to Japan with my family. All together, we are 8 adults and 2 kids aged 6 and 9.
We planned to stay at Tokyo for 3 nights by arriving at Narita airport, then continue to Kyoto and Osaka for another 5 nights and get back to Tokyo to fly back home. Would you recommend us to get the JR Pass. Please give us some tips on traveling and sightseeing too.

Thank you.

Hello there,

Yes, I would recommend a 7 day JR Pass for your travel from Tokyo to Kyoto/Osaka and back. The cost of a 7 day JR Pass is about the same as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Osaka using the Shinkansen. Now you get 7 days of unlimited travel for the same price.

The Pass is also your one ticket for all of Japan, you will not need to buy any rail tickets when traveling on the JR. This makes life a lot more convenient, especially with larger travel parties.

I've listed many tips for traveling with a family here <--

Kind regards,
Daniel
