Hi, my family is planning a trip to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka starting from 07 fo July. We know that we have to buy a JR Pass, but we don't know if we can use it in the metro net in Tokyo and other cities. Additionally we want to know if it will be useful for travelling from Narita International Airport to Tokyo, or have to buy single tickets for the trains and metro to the hotel.
Also, can you tell us if there is a office for taking our JR pass at Narita International Airport and what is the working timetable of this office, because we are arriving at 8 PM in Tokyo?
Thank you in advance for the answers.
activating JR Pass and travelling in Tokyo
Hi there,
The metro is not included, as it is not run by JR. You can however use local JR lines, which cover most of Tokyo and Osaka. Travel to/from the airport is also covered.
For travel times, I recommend learning to plan with Hyperdia this way you can find any route/timetable and more. It's a great tool for planning with the JR Pass. We also have a useful interactive map with all JR lines included.
