9 days Japan Trip from Tokyo to Hokone to Kyoto to Osaka

Hi there,

This is our first time to Japan with a huge group of people, 3 families of 4 persons in each family.
(2 Adults + 2 children)

Hence, I will like to ask which type of travel pass is most cost effective and suitable for us.
I know there are other passes to use within Hokone, Osaka & Kyoto especially economic as they include Sight seeing and travel pass, does it means that it is not worth to use JR Pass for our itinerary?

Please see our initial planned itinerary as follow:

Day 1: Arriving in Narita Airport in morning, travel to Tokyo
Day 2: Disney land & Disney Sea
Day 3: Within Tokyo
Day 4: Travel to Hokone
Day 5 : Travel to Kyoto
Day 6: Within Kyoto or travel to Nara
Day 7: Travel to Osaka
Day 8: Within Osaka
Day 9: Osaka to Kansai Airport

Hi there,

A JR Pass is best used for intercity travel in Japan or longer routes. Within your itinerary, this is limited to a one way Tokyo - Kyoto. As such you would not make savings using a JR Pass, instead I recommend using normal tickets for your route.

To save some money, you can look at buying normal tickets in Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto and Osaka. Think of a Hakone Free Pass or Osaka Unlimited pass.
