Hi there!

Here is my itinerary. Can you please help me utilize my 7 day pass?

I am arriving in Tokyo on June 10 early afternoon, planning on staying in Tokyo overnight.

On June 11, I am planning to go to Osaka and making a stop at Nagoya. I will stay in Osaka for 2 nights.

Then on June 13, I am planning to go to Kyoto and staying for 3 nights.

On June 16, I am going back to Tokyo and staying for 2 nights.

On June 18, I am flying out from Narita in the early evening.

I have a 7 day pass, should I start on June 11 when I travel to Osaka? If yes, how can I travel from the airport to my hotel in Tokyo?

Thanks so much!!

Hi there,

I think it would sense to start using the Japan Rail Pass the day that you arrive. Travel from the airport + a full day around Tokyo is likely the best value you'll get compared to the one day in Tokyo later. Unless you would do a day trip somewhere.

The JR Pass also includes travel to Nagoya, Osaka, Kyoto and back to Tokyo.

Hope this helps :)

Hello,
If you started using your pass from June 11, the last day you could use it would be on June 17 - that means you'd have to pay for the trips to/from Narita both ways. That doesn't make sense - you'd be better off activating your pass from Narita and taking the Narita Express into town.

In answer to your question, for the return trip to Narita, one of the cheapest ways is the 1000 yen bus - or you could pay to take the Narita Express back (¥3000), take the limousine bus (¥3100), or take the [Keisei] from Ueno or Nippori.

Every place has something to see, but if you're already seeing Tokyo, you could spend less time in Osaka, although you should absolutely not miss seeing Dotonbori, the Umeda Sky Bldg, and Abeno Harukas Bldg. I highly recommend you make at least half a day for Nara Nara. The Todaiji Great Buddha is especially impressive, and it would be a tragedy if you missed it.
You also might want to spend some time in Kobe, or see Japan's grandest castle in Himeji.

Good luck.
