Hi I am going to be travelling from Haneda Airport to downtown Tokyo on Feb 12, then from Tokyo to Kyoto on Feb 14, and then back to Tokyo from Kyoto on Feb 19th. Will a 7 day pass be sufficient to cover all the travelling? It seems like it would actually be 8 days between the Tokyo/Kyoto trips....what would be my best option?

Hi there,

Feb 14th to Feb 19th is counted as a 6 day period, so that would work. So a 7 day JR Pass would work fine here. You can also use the pass to travel from Haneda airport into Tokyo and on local JR lines both in Tokyo and Kyoto.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

HI sorry I probably wasn't clear with my post. I will need the pass from Feb 12th to Feb 19th, which is 8 days. Would my best option be to just pay for transit in Tokyo on Feb 12th and then activate the pass on Feb 13th?

Yes, paying one day for local trains then using the JR Pass to cover your intercity travel to Kyoto and back to Tokyo would work out the best.
