Does the following itinerary make sense for using Japan Rail Pass 7 day?
Narita airport to Tokyo- stay 2 nights
Tokyo to Hakone- stay 1 night
Hakone to Kyoto- stay 2 nights
Kyoto to Nikko- stay 1 night
Back to Tokyo on 7th day

What are the rail lines we can use for the above itinerary?
We are family of 4, 2 are kids age 9, 19. Also any advice as to what we can do with our luggage?

Thanks so much!

Hi there,

I do recommend using a 7 day JR pass, it will help you make good savings compared to buying normal tickets. Especially given that you're travelling with your family. You can use any JR line but for your itinerary, basically focus on the Tokaido Shinkansen. This connects, Tokyo, Hakone (Odawara station), Kyoto. Then for Nikko, return to Tokyo, use any north bound Shinkansen to Utsunomiya and finally a local train on the JR Nikko line to Nikko.

Luggage can be taken on board and stores in the overhead compartment, there's also space at the end of each train car.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
