Konichiwa,

In a few months my boyfriend and I will be traveling to Japan. It will be his first visit to this wonderful country and my second (first time traveling outside of the Kanto region).

This is our ittenary so far:

Monday 12nov: Arrive @ Narita airport
Staying in Shibuya - Tokyo for 5 nights until Saturday 17nov. Exploring the different arreas and maybe a day trip.

From Saturday 17nov until Friday 23nov we'll be staying in the shin-Osaka area for 6nights.
Going on day trips to:
-Kyoto -Universals -Nara -Kobe

On the 23th we'll be heading back to Tokyo for 2 more nights until Sunday 25nov, we're our flight will departure from Narite airport, early in the morning, back to Belgium.

My initial plan was to buy the 7-day pass and start to use it on Saturday 17nov going from Tokyo to Osaka until Friday 23nov when we'll be traveling back to Tokyo.

But I was wondering, would it be a good idea to buy the 14-day pass? Or are we better of buying the 7-day pass & a Suicca/Pasmo card for the traveling we do between the different areas in Tokyo?

Thank you in advance.

Greetings,
Kevin&Emily

Hi Kevin&Emily,

Right now the 7 day JR Pass is your most cost efficient option for travel to Kyoto/Osaka and back to Tokyo. Then buy local day passes/tickets or use Suica for travel around Tokyo.

A 14 day JR Pass would be useful if you did a bit more travel, think of adding Hiroshima or some day trips to cities like Himeji or Nikko.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
