4 days - should I buy JR pass

I'm arriving Friday and leaving Monday from Narita Airport, and need to get to Mishima station.
This would be my route to get to Mishima:

Narita -> Shinagawa (by Narita Express) 4000 yen round trip
Shinagawa -> Mishima (by Shinkansen) 4520 yen one way

For both ways, I think the total cost was 13040 yen.
That's just my transportation cost to and from the airport.
My friend and I haven't decided where we want to visit during the weekend, but we'll most likely take the train to go to a major city. (Any suggestions on where we should go that's not too far from Mishima?)

Should I buy the JR Rail Pass or no? And will JR rail pass work on the subways in Tokyo or Osaka?

It would be great if there was a regional rail pass that covered Narita - Mishima but I don't think there is?

Hi there,

The best advice I can give you now is to decide on the last weekend of your trip. There is quite a difference depending on going to Osaka or say a closer city like Nagoya or Shizuoka. This will also apply to the JR Pass, for instance, you would make good use of a pass if you went to Osaka but not so much if you would go to say Nagoya.

You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
