2 separate JR Passes

Hi there,

We'll be traveling through Japan for a month in April using trains. We want to buy a 7 day pass, as well as a 14 day pass, and in between we'll be in Kyoto and then there is no need for us to use the train.

Is this possible? To buy 2 separate passes and validate them on different dates?
