Hi all,

I have been sifting through this forum for advice that fits our trip plan, but couldn't find anything so similar - apologies if this question has been asked before.

I've used a few calculators to check the worth of getting a JR Pass, and as-is it looks as though we juuuust scrape the worth for the 21 day pass.

Could anyone advise whether it might be better (for example) to move the Nikko day trip to Day 6, buy a 14 day pass and start it from that day, with the last usage day being Day 20.

In this scenario we would have to pay for the Travel to from Narita to Tokyo separately and also the travel part way to Fuji 5 Lakes.

Any advise on this or any other aspect of our plan would be very appreciated!

Day 1 Land in Tokyo Narita, evening
Day 2 Tokyo
Day 3 Tokyo - Nikko/fuji daytrip
Day 4 Tokyo
Day 5 Tokyo - Nikko/fuji daytrip
Day 6 Tokyo
Day 7 Tokyo, travel to Kanazawa am
Day 8 Kanazawa - Takayama daytrip
Day 9 Kanazawa
Day 10 Kanazawa to Kyoto am
Day 11 Kyoto - Nara daytrip
Day 12 Kyoto
Day 13 Kyoto - Arashiyama daytrip
Day 14 Kyoto Travel to Osaka am
Day 15 Osaka
Day 16 Osaka
Day 17 Osaka - Himeji daytrip
Day 18 Osaka travel to Hiroshima am
Day 19 Hiroshima - Miyajima daytrip
Day 20 Hiroshima travel to narita pm
Day 21 Fly

Hi there,

A 14 day JR Pass would be a great option for day 7 - 20 (note that this is counted as 14 days). Going for a 21 day JR Pass is an option if you would include travel to Nikko with it and some other travel as well. Also, which calculator did you use? Was that on our website? As you'll be making actually rather good savings using a JR Pass on this route.

Kind regards,
Daniel
