Hi

I will be travelling in Japan from October 1st to October 21st.

I will be landing in Tokyo Narita, and head to Osaka right away with the bullet train (Shinkansen), using the JR pass.

I will then stay in Osaka for 10 days, until October 10. While staying in Osaka, I will be visiting Kobe, Nara and Kyoto. I will be using my JR pass here also, using bullet trains (Shinkansen).

I will take the bullet train (Shinkansen) back to Tokyo from Osaka the 10th of October.

I will then stay in Tokyo until October 21st where I then will travel back home.

What JR pass would you recommend me?

Kind regards
Luigino

Hi Luigino,

If I might make a suggestion, add a day trip to Hiroshima and Miyajima from Osaka and get the 14 day JR Pass. This way you would really get the best use out of the Japan Rail Pass and your trip to Japan :)

Let me know what you think :)

Hi Daniel,

Thank you very much for your reply and your advice.

I will definitely consider both Hiroshima and Miyajima.

  • Can I use the N'EX train to/from Narita Airport to/from Tokyo with the JR pass, is it included in the JR pass?

Kind regards

Hi Daniel,

Perfect, thank you again for your reply.

  • If I get a suica card in Narita Airport to use for the subways in Tokyo, can I use the card in Osaka also? Anything about the suica card I need to be awake of?

Kind regards

Hi Luigino,

Yes, a Suica card can be picked up easily at the airport, just ask for one at the ticket window. They cost 2000yen, of which 500yen a card deposit, so you have 1500yen travel credit. You can load on more at any time. Suica can also be used anywhere else in Japan where IC cards are accepted, such as Osaka.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
