Hi,
our itinerary as follow, just wondering if we should buy 14 days pass or 7 days. If 7 days, when should we start using it?
May 10 arrive NRT -> Shinjuku
May 11 Toyko (Shinjuku) to Kobe
May 13 Kobe to Kyoto
May 14 Kyoto to Takayama
May 16 Takayama to Kyoto
May 18 Kyoto to Toyko (Shinjuku)
May 19 Toyko (Shinjuku) to NRT

Please advise how many days JR Pass is the best.
Thank you very much!!!

Hi there,

I must say it is a bit of a hard fit to match a JR Pass to your itinerary. Cost wise, you'd ideally use a 7 day JR Pass to travel from Tokyo - Kobe and be back in Tokyo before it expires. Now this period is 8 days. At the same time, a 14 day JR Pass would need a bit more travel for it to be cost effective. As such, there's not really a match for your trip right now.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you!! The 14 days pass can take us to all the above mentioned places, right? If we add some half day trip in between and able to use the 14 days, then it's better to buy the pass anyway, right?
Thanks!

Yes, the JR Pass would cover travel between all these places.

A 14 day JR Pass might be a good option but only if you added a bit more travel :)
