Hi,

We plan to arrive in Osaka on Nov 17, and tour Kyoto and Osaka from Nov 17 to 22. On Nov 22, we will travel to Tokyo and tour Tokyo until we leave on Nov 26. So that's a total of 10 days. Which JR pass would you recommend?

If we want to tour Mt Fuji as well, when do you recommend that we do so?

Thanks.

Hi there,

The JR Pass works best for the longer routes in Japan, think of intercity travel. As far as I can see, in your itinerary, this is limited from travel between the Kansai Area (Kyoto/Osaka) to Tokyo. This is not enough for a Japan Rail Pass to help you make savings. Maybe if you added a bit more travel like a visit to Hiroshima.

For Fuji, I'd recommend stopping at Hakone on the way over. This is an easy stop over on the way from Osaka to Tokyo and has a lot to offer. Alternatively, you could do a day trip from Tokyo to Fuji Five lakes.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
