Hi,

My husband and I are going to South Korea and then to Japan this month. For Japan, our plans are

9/24 land at Narita
9/29 Tokyo to Kyoto
10/2. Kyoto to Hakone
10/4 Hakone to Narita to fly back home

We may decide to go to outskirts of Tokyo and Kyoto, perhaps even go to Hiroshima. Should we purchase a 7 day JR pass starting the 28th? Will that be enough? Is it worth the additional cost to purchase the green card? Any suggestions of where we should visit? Any other help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi there,

I do think that a 7 day JR Pass would make for a good choice. This because the 7 day JR Pass is about the same price as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto using the Shinkansen. Now you get 7 days of non-stop travel for the same price. This adds great flexibility, you could make a trip to Hiroshima or any other place without additional costs.

As for Green Class, most 1st time visitors are more than good in Ordinary class. However if you want to extra comfort, then it is money well spend.

Hope this helps!
Daniel
