Kyoto to Kawaguchiko by JR

I'm travelling from Kyoto to Kawaguchiko in a few days and wondered what is the cheapest possible way in which to get there using the JR pass - this is an unexpected journey to accommodation I hadn't budgeted for! Also I'd need to get from Kawaguchiko to Tokyo following this, again as cheaply as possible.

Any assistance ASAP would be highly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Hi Lucia,

The cheapest way with the JR Pass would be to travel from Kyoto - Otsuki station and from there use the Fujikyu line to Kawaguchiko, the Fujikyu line requires a 1,140yen fare.

Its quite a long route though, so plan carefully.

The route back to Tokyo is almost the same, use the Fujikyu line back to Otsuki and from there local JR lines to Tokyo station.

Hope this helps,
