questions & answers: using the japan rail pass

Kawaguchiko to Shinjuku/Tokyo

I am planning my travel from Kawaguchiko to Shinjuku on the evening of 15th May 2016.

I have checked that there are direct JR trains to Shinjuku with the following trains:

Holiday Rapid Mt Fuji 2 - 16:00 hrs
Fuji-Shibazakura - 16:14 hrs
Yamanashi-Fuji 4 - 17:27 hrs

Can I check which of these three trains are eligible for the usage of JR pass?

Hi there,

These trains are covered by the JR Pass up to Otsuki station. From there the train tracks are owned by the Fujikyu railway and an extra fare between Otsuki - Kawaguchiko is required, this is 1,140yen.

Thank you!

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the reply!

Hence, even though in hyperdia, it is seen that the three train rides above cost a total of 2460yen each, 1140yen will be charged and it is not covered in JR pass as the track from kawaguchiko to Otsuki is owned by Fujikyu Railway.

Am i understanding correctly? Hence, the JR pass only covers (2460 - 1140yen = 1320yen).

How will the payment be made for the Fujikyu Railway (Kawaguchiko to Otsuki) ?

Hi again,

That sounds correct. You can pay the difference on board the train or up on arrival at Kawaguchiko.
