My son and his girlfriend are spending a couple of weeks sightseeing in Japan in March 2018. We wanted to buy them each a 7 day JR pass for Christmas.
1 - can we book and pay for the vouchers to be exchanged for passes by using their names but paying on our credit card? Want to check the vouchers can be bought by someone other than the person(s) actually using the passes in Japan
2 - once we have purchased vouchers for them when do they expire - I think I saw somewhere that said the vouchers had to be used to get passes in Japan within 3 months so for travel starting say 26 March we couldn't order vouchers online before 26 December
