Hi. I will be in Japan for 8 days. I am traveling to Tokyo & Kyoto. I'm not sure if it is worth $279 for basically traveling to Kyoto & back and to the airport (which I will only be able to use once since I will be thre for 8 days). What do you suggest?

Hi there,

The cost of your trip will break about even with the JR Pass. You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.

However you can still consider the JR Pass for its convenience, as it serves as your one ticket for all off Japan and is good to have in case you may need to do some unforeseen travel, or if the fancy takes you and you want to include an other side trip in your visit to Japan.

Hope this helps,
