Hi,
Am planning a trip to Tokyo and its surrounding area for my family (2 adults + 2 kids). I would like to seek advice 1) on my itinerary and 2) if getting a 7-Day or 14-Day JR Pass would be worth while. This is just the suggested route and could be adjusted accordingly.
My suggested itinerary as follows:
Day 1:
Arrive at Tokyo (Narita) in the morning > Head to Kusatsu Onsen (spend the night there).
Day 2:
Kusatsu Onsen > Nagano (via Karuizawa)
Day 3
Nagano > Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route > Toyama (stay for 1 night)
Day 4
Toyama > Kanzawa (stay for 1 night)
Day 5 and 6
Kanazawa > Shirakawa-go > Takayama (Stay for 2 nights)(Nohi Bus)
Day 7
Takayama to Nagoya (stay for 1 night)
Day 8 and 9
Nagoya to Hakone
Day 10
Head to Tokyo (visit Ginza, Shinjuku and other shopping areas)
Day 11
Head to Tsukiji Market / Yokohama
Day 12
Head to Disneyland Sea
Day 13
Departing at Tokyo (Haneda)
Is a 14-Day or 7-Day JR Pass better to fit into my itinerary? If I were to get a 7 day JR pass, which day should I start the activation?
